The golden opportunities of Phi Theta Kappa include recognition for academic excellence, millions of dollars in scholarships for continuing education, and a myriad of benefits to enhance each member’s life as a scholar and leader in the community and in the workplace. To assist chapters in effectively communicating these benefits of membership, and to acknowledge the unique distinctions enjoyed by Phi Theta Kappa members, the Society is launching a new visibility campaign, “Good as Gold.” The campaign goals are twofold: to ensure that the benefits of membership are completely understood by all those who have achieved academic success and to provide a consistent and professional image that clearly communicates the benefits of membership. The “Good as Gold” campaign will also emphasize the value and opportunities afforded to members through Phi Theta Kappa’s programs, including transfer scholarships, leadership development, recognition of academic excellence and participation in honors studies and service initiatives. “What does it mean to be ‘Good as Gold’? Gold is associated with attributes that are demonstrated in our Society and most importantly, in our members,” said Society Executive Director Rod A. Risley, commenting on the Society’s new mantra for excellence. “Gold symbolizes the best of the best, the highest, the superlative. Gold rewards excellence. Gold makes a wise, long-term investment. Gold endures. As the years pass, gold increases in value. Gold leads to greater prosperity or rare opportunities... And so does Phi Theta Kappa,” he said. “Good as Gold” materials to enhance membership recruitment, Society visibility and programming opportunities, mailed to chapter leaders in early September, include a Chapter Resource DVD (featuring a new member recruitment video and orientation PowerPoint® presentation and script), new professionally designed promotional posters, and a new Membership Benefits Brochure. |
