Phi Theta Kappa and USA TODAY have collaborated to bring you their newest initiative - The Community College Readership Program. Through the Readership Program, USA TODAY partners with colleges across the Society by delivering newspapers at designated areas on campus at a discounted price to the college. The program enables students and faculty to have daily access to USA TODAY newspapers, which create a desire to learn about national and world events every day. “In times of dwindling resources, here is a fiscally-responsible initiative that maximizes your ability as leaders to create a more informed student body,” said Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director Rod A. Risley. By enrolling in the Readership Program you are benefiting yourself and other students, your college and Phi Theta Kappa. Students have easy, complimentary access to USA TODAY newspapers that offer various perspectives on a daily basis, enhancing knowledge of the democratic society. Professors and college libraries enjoy the benefits of receiving the newspapers to use in the classrooms and for research purposes. Phi Theta Kappa’s Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program also receives a portion of the earnings from each participating college. Advertise the program to college presidents, student services divisions, student government associations or honors programs to earn their financial support. Remember to mention the 30 percent discount price on every newspaper, offered only to colleges participating in the Readership Program. USA TODAY provides free newspaper displays promoting your Phi Theta Kappa chapter and local college funding partners and recycling bins for each college. Dining facilities, classrooms, libraries, computer labs, residence halls and commuter halls are prime places for easy access to the newspapers. Remaining newspapers are removed at every delivery. Once you have contacted USA TODAY representative Kate Bond at 1.800.872.3415 ext. 3187, your chapter receives a start-up packet and newspapers can begin being delivered at your college* in approximately four weeks.
