Phi Theta Kappa Voices
Phi Theta Kappa constituents give personal voices to hot topics.

Civic Engagement
"Our chapter has been hosting bipartisan candidate debates for
the primary elections and now we are planning debates for the general
election. We're attending orientations and registering incoming
students to vote and we'll also be going into local high schools
to register the seniors."
Ahmad Kashani
Service Officer, Elgin Community College, Elgin, Illinois
International Service Program
"To get involved in the Service Program, the most important thing is
to plan ahead and work with the American Cancer Society office. One
thing everyone should remember is that volunteers are the heart of
community service. Staying in close contact with volunteers is very
important, through flyers, e-mails, calls, etc. to keep them informed of
what is happening. Also, be sure to recognize volunteers so they feel
appreciated. After each event we sent personalized thank you cards to
each participant."
Keri Lewis
Chapter President, St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg, Florida
Five Star Chapter Development Program
"Chapters must examine each level of the Five Star Program and
determine what is realistically achievable for their chapter. Once they
have set a goal they need to discuss ideas of implementation within each
Hallmark, then establish a plan and timeframe for implementation,
assigning responsibilities."
Michael Caves
Member, Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, Maryland
Nota Bene
"Winning the Reynolds Scholarship has given me more readership than I ever
imagined. I've had poems published at colleges, but Nota Bene is the
first publication that I've been published in that reaches such a
large audience. Nota Bene is the perfect publication for writers who are
trying to gain readership. Unlike other publishers, Phi Theta Kappa does
not charge a reader's fee, and since entries can only be submitted
by Phi Theta Kappa members, your work isn't competing with a
million other entries."
