Roger Ekins
Chapter Advisor, Butte College, CA
On Membership Fee Assistance:
"At Butte College, the office of Extended Opportunity Programs and Services pays the entire induction fee for any EOPS-eligible student. EOPS students are low income or first generation students, considered by the institution to be disadvantaged. This increased Butte College membership significantly this year! I encourage all chapters to ask their college administration about membership fee assistance funded by similar programs."

Amber Barnett
Chapter President, Mohave Community College, AZ
On Increasing Member Participation:
"While serving as chapter president, I have noticed that participation for events is often low at first. But don't get discouraged! You are doing things for the betterment of your college and community. As you become more active and visible, more interest will be peaked. Always get your college administration on board with projects, so you can advertise on campus and seek support from various departments."

Erica Chong
Chapter President, Guam Community College, GU
On The International Service Program:
"Our chapter has participated in several events for the Operation Green International Service Program, and I found my time spent in each endeavor extremely fulfilling. For Good as Gold Week, we planted seven native langiti or "lipstick" trees on campus. I had fun working with my fellow Phi Theta Kappans and my experiences implementing the International Service Program complemented my environmental biology studies."
