Correct Usage of Phi Theta Kappa Emblems

All Phi Theta Kappa emblems, including the key, crest, seal, the Greek letters comprising the Society name, and the name "Phi Theta Kappa," are registered with the U.S. Patent Office.

The registered trademark symbol, ®, should accompany these emblems when they are used on printed materials or other acceptable uses.

The Phi Theta Kappa key, crest and seal may not be reproduced on any wearable item, even if it is to be distributed to chapter members or chapter or regional officers at no charge. The key, crest and seal may not be used on any sellable items.

The Society name, Phi Theta Kappa, and the Greek letters, ΦΘΚ are the only Society emblems that may be used on wearable or sellable items.

Wearable items using the Phi Theta Kappa name or Greek letters should support the Society's mission of recognizing academic achievement and should also display the Society name in a respectful manner.

All formal references to the Society, in printed materials, wearable items and in speeches, should designate the Society by its full name, Phi Theta Kappa or ΦΘΚ. "PTK" is not an acceptable acronym for Phi Theta Kappa, as the Society name is formed of letters of the Greek alphabet, and "PTK" are letters in the English alphabet.

Regulations for the use of emblems are available on the Phi Theta Kappa website at www.ptk.org/printimages.htm. Questions concerning the acceptable use of emblems on wearable items may be addressed to Director of Recognition Services Casey Holcomb at 601.984.3578. Questions concerning web imagery may be directed to Web Editor Lucy Molinaro at 601.984.3570. Questions concerning printed images may be addressed to Director of Publications Nell Ewing or 601.984.3516.
