Phi Theta Kappa Announces Special Pre-Convention Educational Opportunities for Advisors and Officers!

2002 Officer Academies
Wednesday, April 3, 2002
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Precedes the 84th International Convention, Nashville, Tennessee, April 4-6, 2002!

The 2002 Officer Academies offer the premier training opportunity to newly-elected Phi Theta Kappa chapter and regional officers who will be serving in the 2002-03 academic year.

Chapter Officer Academy
Chapter officers will explore leadership skills from the Society’s Leadership Development Studies course and learn how to apply these critical skills to Phi Theta Kappa programs. Small-group activities will allow participants to put into practice these leadership lessons while networking with officers from across the nation and abroad!

Chapter Officer Academy Topics:

  • Defining your Personal Leadership Style

  • Ethics in Leadership

  • Articulating a Vision by Recruiting New Members

  • Goal Setting with the Five Star Chapter Development Program and Honors Study Topic

  • Leading by Serving Through the International Service Program

  • Delegating and Time Management by Participating in Hallmark Awards and Planning Your Chapter’s Calendar

Regional Officer Academy
Regional Officers will learn how to make the most of their Phi Theta Kappa leadership position through personal and professional development sessions.

Regional Officer Academy Topics:

  • The Role of a Regional Officer

  • Professional Etiquette and Public Speaking

  • Diversity and Tolerance

  • Organizational Skills

  • Initiating Change

  • Regional Goal Setting
