The Phi Theta Kappa Network is now bigger and better than ever before! A host of new benefits has been added to this online, free-to-members area of the Phi Theta Kappa website, making it the most comprehensive network of opportunities available to honor students anywhere. And members enrolling at getconnected.ptk.org are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship awarded each month to a randomly selected member of the Network. The Phi Theta Kappa Network is made up of four components: the Academic Connection, the Scholarship Connection, the Career Connection and the Recognition Connection. Each “connection” contains benefits designed to enhance members’ academic progress and gives them an edge on a successful future. All connections can be accessed free-of-charge by members at getconnected.ptk.org. The Academic Connection:
Learning Resources at Your Fingertips Writing assistance from The Learning and Homework Accelerator™ is new to the Academic Connection. Members can access discounted subscriptions to this independent educational platform that actively helps start, construct and complete writing assignments. Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions joined the Academic Connection this fall with a special offer to members and alumni. Kaplan offers substantial discounts on online courses which help prepare for such tests as the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT. The Academic Connection also provides access to XanEdu™, a powerful search and retrieval reference library, free tutoring from SMARTHINKING.com, Honors Study Topic information, selected writings from Nota Bene literary anthology, timely lessons on leadership and invaluable links to research sources. The Recognition Connection: Rewarding Your Achievement AnswerFinancial® partners with Phi Theta Kappa at the Recognition Connection to offer network members special opportunities on a variety of insurance options. Types of insurance available include auto, homeowners, renters, life, pet, long term care, health and dental insurance. Tired of having to tell friends and family to update their address books every time you change Internet service providers? The Phi Theta Kappa Network makes it simple with the new Email Alias benefit, now available at the Recognition Connection. The Email Alias allows members to establish a permanent Phi Theta Kappa email alias through which all correspondence can be forwarded. Your Phi Theta Kappa email address will never change and will forward to you no matter how many times you change your email provider. The Recognition Connection also furnishes an electronic press release announcing election to membership and supplies Network members with access to exclusive Recognitions items and special discounts. The Scholarship Connection: Links to College Funding The Scholarship Connection links members to the eScholarship Directory, a directory of $33 million in scholarships available only to Phi Theta Kappa members. The Scholarship Connection also connects members with ScholarshipTRAK™, a repository of more than 8,000 sources of financial support. Network members are automatically enrolled in the Society’s Transfer Database, used by senior institutions to recruit transfer students. Members can also request a personalized letter of recommendation for an admissions or scholarship programs officer at the Scholarship Connection. The Career Connection: An Edge in the Job Market Through a new partnership with monsterTRAK™, members may now enroll free of charge in the monsterTRAK™ network, a college job listing site specializing in entry-level jobs, internships, full and part-time positions. The Career Connection also provides a personalized letter of recommendation, which can be sent to a potential employer, confirming membership and any significant leadership role, such as holding chapter or regional office, in Phi Theta Kappa. To help make these new benefits available to all members, Phi Theta Kappa has arranged for discounted web connections and email accounts from EarthLink™.
