Ideas to Garner Donations..
(no sales, no overhead, just profit)

  • Make a list of those most likely to make contributions to your chapter.

  • Educate prospective donors by telling them about your chapter and your yearly goals.

  • Be honest and upfront with potential donors. If you need funding for a chapter ski trip or party, rather than a regional meeting or service project, let the donor know.

  • Be specific about your needs.

  • Write a letter of thanks and make donors feel like they are part of the chapter’s success.

  • Many businesses will not donate money to your chapter, but they might be willing to donate their services (free printing) or their goods (free dinner for two) to the chapter.

  • It is important not to only ask for one thing. It might be a good idea to come to the business owner or manager with a list of needs. This way they can choose from the list the areas where they can help.

  • Use the donated items as raffle prizes. This equals pure profit! Before planning a raffle, be sure to check out the rules in your state.
