'Time in a Bottle': Choose Carefully for Time Capsule 2000 As I listened to the song "Time in a Bottle," I began to think how Jim Croce's words capture the theme, thoughts and emotion of the TC2K event. Inspired by our current Honors Study Topic, "The New Millennium: The Past As Prologue," my fellow International Officers and I came up with the idea of a time capsule while we were attending our International Officer Orientation in Jackson, Mississippi, last August. When we heard that the concept had been approved, we were all very excited. We as officers had something meaningful to contribute to the entire organization. Imagine yourself at the International Convention this April. You arrive in the Academic Marketplace to see an area for depositing your chapter item for the TC2K capsule. You walk up and see the items from other chapters that have already been added. By reading the 3" x 5" index card that accompanies each entry, you'll learn why each chapter believes their item reflects the essence of our current national and global culture. Phi Theta Kappans are a group of dedicated and motivated people. We relish in the 'thought' of things and the processes behind them. What will your chapter use for its item, and why? How deep will your thoughts take you in your quest for just the right item? I find this process to be the most rewarding. It is not so much the place you are going, but the journey in getting there; that is where I find true pleasure in thinking, What would the significance be to the members of the 2025 International Convention? Your International Officers look forward with great anticipation to see what your contributions to Phi Theta Kappa's Time Capsule 2000 will be Don't forget! The deadline for registering your chapter's item is April 7! Pre-registration is necessary in order to avoid duplicate entries. After all, great minds think alike! |
