The eMembers program, Phi Theta Kappa’s electronic reporting of new members, has been a resounding success among advisors! Since the introduction of eMembers in the fall of 2000, it has been used by more than 41 percent of chapters who have submitted new inductees. Besides the ‘no paperwork’ advantage to the electronic reporting method, there are other benefits to be gleaned from the process. According to Membership Services Coordinator Julie Luckey, “Once advisors report their members using eMembers, Headquarters can process membership for new inductees within the same day. This means that on the following business day, new inductees have the ability to access the secured section of our web site, the Phi Theta Kappa Network, and all its many benefits available to members only!” eMembers also enables advisors to search and retrieve information on their chapter’s current members from the Phi Theta Kappa database. To access eMembers visit the Society web site, www.ptk.org/advisor/emembers/emembers.htm. Usernames and passwords for eMembers were mailed to all advisors in September of 2000.
