The Journey THE ALPHA PROJECT:
Traditions, Assessment, and Progress "Embracing the most valued traditions of the past, we engage in an assessment of Phi Theta Kappa to develop a comprehensive plan for progress which reveals our highest aspirations for Phi Theta Kappa in the new millennium." Delegates attending the International Convention will have the first opportunity to participate in The Alpha Project, Phi Theta Kappa's long-range planning initiative to devise strategies and set priorities to prepare the Society for the 21st century. The 1998-99 International Officers named the initiative. Tapping all Society constituencies and resources. The Alpha Project (TAP!) will help shape a vision and establish priorities for Phi Theta Kappa as the Society enters a new decade and millennium. All Convention delegates will be asked to contribute to the gathering of data for the initiative. Additionally, a special "Town Meeting" will be held Sunday morning, May 2, from 9 am - 10:30 am for interested delegates to voice their ideas on the priorities Phi Theta Kappa should address in the decade ahead. Following the Convention, chapters, alumni, visionaries, college presidents, and friends of Phi Theta Kappa not represented at the Convention will have the opportunity to participate in The Alpha Project by responding to written surveys and participating in local "town meetings". An international commission will be appointed to review and discuss the
data collected through out the summer and fall and to develop a final formal report which
will be unveiled at the 2000 International Convention in Orlando. The Alpha Project report
will be circulated widely to Society constituents following the Orlando meeting. For further information, contact: Rod Risley, ext.518.
