Iowa chapter advisor selected to receive 1999 Parnell Scholarship

Dr. Thomas Burnell Colbert, Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor at Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, Iowa, has been selected as the Parnell Scholar for 1999.

The Parnell Scholarship covers travel, lodging and registration for the 1999 International Convention.

Awarded annually to an advisor who is a first-time Seminar Leader and who has never attended an International Convention, the scholarship is named for Dr. Dale Parnell, former president of the American Association of Community Colleges, and a former member of the Phi Theta Kappa Board of Directors.

Dr. Colbert is a member of the history faculty at Marshalltown Community College. He recently participated in the 1999 Faculty Development Conference held at the Center for Excellence, Phi Theta Kappa International Headquarters, and will serve as a Seminar Leader for the 1999 Honors Institute, May 23-30, at Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C.
