Five Easy Steps to Participate in the Five-Star Program

Need ideas to rejuvenate inactive chapters?

Or, are you looking for a plan to take your active chapter to the next award-winning level? Try the Five-Star Chapter Development Program. It's one of the fastest ways we know to add SIZZLE to your chapter.

It's easy to get started.

Here are FIVE steps to get you on your way to becoming a FIVE-Star chapter!

1. You need the right ingredients. Start with an enthusiastic chapter officer team, throw in some active members, and make sure you have the most up-to-date Five-Star Chapter Development Program Guide. You should be working from the 1999-2000 Tenth Edition. This edition was mailed to all chapter presidents and contact advisors the week following your regional convention.

2. Study the Program Guide, and then set a realistic goal for your chapter to obtain. Complete and send the Chapter Goal Form to your Regional Coordinator and Headquarters.

3. Send in your Chapter Update Form according to your region's calendar as indicated in the 1999-2000 Program Guide.

4. Use additional resources. A large part of the Five-Star Program is implementing the Honors Study Topic and International Service Program and competing for regional and international awards.

Refer to your Officer Resource Packet, The Journey newsletter, the Honors Study Topic Program Guide, Phi Theta Kappa's web site and regional and international meetings for creative ideas.

5. Stand up and be recognized! Yes, the Five-Star Program guarantees recognition for your chapter on the local, regional and international levels. Your college president receives a letter acknowledging your chapter's accomplishments; your chapter is presented with a certificate of achievement at your regional convention; and your chapter is listed in the Awards Tabloid distributed at International Convention.

Finally, remember that the Five-Star Program is a self-paced, non-competitive program. You compete only with yourselves to build the best chapter possible. We can't think of a reason not to shoot for the stars! Your chapter has earned it!
