Phi Theta Kappa Invited to Help Develop a New Vision for Community Colleges

The American Association of Community Colleges has invited Phi Theta Kappa to assume a leadership role in helping to set a vision and strategic direction for the nation's community colleges in the first part of the next decade. New Expeditions, the 21-month project launched by AACC and the Association of Community College Trustees, with funding provided by W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will culminate in a visionary report to challenge the colleges through a series of recommendations. Phi Theta Kappa will hold public hearings and community conversations at local colleges, regional meetings, and at the 81st International Convention in Anaheim to help collect information for the study. This will mark the first time Phi Theta Kappa students, advisors, and alumni have been given the opportunity to voice their ideas, thoughts, and opinions about the future of community colleges.

For information, contact Executive Director Rod A. Risley, Ext. 518. Details of the New Expeditions project may be found on the American Association of Community College's web site.
