Looking for Ways To Get Involved?

Summer is an ideal time to participate in America’s Promise activities when kids have more free time on their hands and generally Phi Theta Kappans do, too!

  • Read stories to children at the library.
  • Volunteer at a summer camp or Vacation Bible School.
  • Teach swimming lessons.
  • Take your children on a vacation that explores history.
  • Sponsor a block party for kids.
  • Coach or assist in coaching a sports team.
  • Serve as a Big Brother or Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Encourage kids to read more books and watch less television.
  • Organize an educational field trip for local youth to a museum or zoo or aquarium.
  • Help out at a local Boys & Girls Club or YMCA/YWCA.
  • Raise money for youth-related charity organizations.
  • Assist teens in finding a summer job.
  • Collect school supplies and clothes for kids as they prepare to head back to school this fall.
  • Enlist young people to help you plant trees and flowers in a public area.
  • Donate to a food pantry that serves families.
  • Share your favorite hobby with a child.
  • Partner with other young people to make a friendly visit to a local nursing home.
