Publication Hits and MissesWHAT TO DO
- Be consistent in your newsletters publication and distribution.
- Establish a responsible person, such as an editor or communications officer, to
coordinate production.
- Be aware of International Headquarters breaking news and new scholarships.
- Have a section which displays the chapters contact information, including ways to
reach the newsletters editor and advisor.
- Corner your advisor by giving him or her an editorial section in each issue to show that
your chapter appreciates and values your advisors opinion.
- Recognize outstanding members or those who have reached their enhanced membership goals.
- Keep your articles simple and commentaries short and to the point.
WHAT NOT TO DO
- Begin the chapter year with a bi-monthly newsletter, and as the year proceeds slowly
move to a "whenever we can" newsletter.
- Have a different person coordinate the newsletter every month to make the process as
confusing as possible.
- Neglect to inform your members about International news, programs, and scholarships.
- Publish a newsletter that contains neither chapter contact information, nor
college/chapter name.
- Produce a newsletter that is not approved or edited by your advisor.
- Embarrass inactive members into becoming active by placing their names in your chapter
newsletter.
- Write long articles and commentaries that no one will ever really read.
