Colorado Keeps Promise One: An Ongoing Relationship with a Caring Adult

One of the goals of the Colorado Region, our host region for the International Convention in Denver, is to design and implement a comprehensive regional service project. The region has chosen a project that parallels the International Service Program, America’s Promise. Each chapter will “adopt” a high school in their area and mentor senior students. Phi Theta Kappa members will serve as ambassadors to the students by providing advisement on topics such as transition to the community college, ACT and SAT preparation, college requirements and applications. Members will also offer financial advice such as how to use credit cards wisely and tips on career issues, including how to write an effective resume and how to find a job. Some high schools selected are those with underprivileged students who do not normally have access to these resources.
