The 2001 enhanced Officer Academies offer the premier training opportunity to newly-elected Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and Regional Officers who will be serving in the 2001-02 academic year.

Chapter Officer Academy

Chapter Officers will explore leadership skills from the Society’s Leadership Development Studies course and learn how to apply these critical skills to Phi Theta Kappa programs. Small-group activities will allow participants to put into practice these leadership lessons while networking with officers from across the nation and abroad!

Chapter Officer Academy Topics Include:

  • Defining Your Personal Leadership Style
  • Articulating a Vision Through Recruiting New Members
  • Goal Setting with the Five-Star Chapter Development Program and Honors Study Topic
  • Leading by Serving Through America’s Promise
  • Conflict Management
  • Delegating and Time Management by Participating in Hallmark Awards and Planning Your Chapter’s Calendar

Regional Officer

Academy Regional Officers will learn how to make the most of their Phi Theta Kappa leadership position through personal and professional development sessions.

Regional Officer Academy Topics Include:

  • The Role of a Regional Officer
  • Professional Etiquette Public Speaking
  • Diversity and Tolerance
  • Organizational Skills
  • Initiating Change
  • Regional GoalSetting

2001 Advisor Pre-Conference

Two Tracks Available:

Track One: “Beginning in Phi Theta Kappa”

Designed for advisors with less than two years of experience who did not attend last year’s Advisor Pre-Conference.

Topics Covered:

  • Chapter Advisor Responsibilities
  • Gaining Administrative Support on Campus
  • Structuring an Effective Officer Team
  • Participating in the Five-Star Chapter Development Program
  • Determining Membership Eligibility
  • Conducting an Orientation and Induction Ceremony
  • Reporting New Members to Headquarters

Track Two: “Developing in Phi Theta Kappa”

Designed for advisors with two to four years of experience, including those who may have attended last year’s Advisor Pre-Conference.

  • Scholarship Opportunities for Advisors
  • Participating in the Five-Star Chapter Development Program
  • Succeeding in the Hallmark Awards Program
