Texas Expands Regional Scholarship Program
Eager to retain its community college students, the Texas Region of Phi Theta Kappa has announced the awarding of its first “Scholars of Texas Academic Recognition Scholarships” (STARS) to community college students. The scholarships not only assist the students at the two-year level, they are also given as a show of appreciation to the community college faculty and administration for their support of Phi Theta Kappa members, advisors and chapters. The first recipients of the STARS scholarships were recognized at the Texas Honors Institute held at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas, last July. Two students received $500 scholarships and two were awarded $1,000 scholarships. Texas is very proud of its new scholarship program and hopes that it will continue to grow into a greater number of scholarships in the future.
