Revitalize your honors program! And keep up with current events! USA TODAY and Phi Theta Kappa have joined forces to sponsor a new honors competition, the Case Study Challenge. The Challenge is designed to encourage Phi Theta Kappa members to adopt a daily habit of reading the newspaper to keep abreast of current events and world news. It is also an excellent way to implement the 2002-04 Honors Study Topic, “Dimensions and Directions of Health: Choices in the Maze.” Chapters or individual members are challenged to conduct a Case Study on any aspect of the Honors Study Topic. To do so, participants must read the print edition of USA TODAY between October 14, 2002, and February 14, 2003, and collect up to five articles on their subject. They must then write a one-page summary of the subject, pose three to five discussion questions, suggest up to six additional resources for further study, and write an essay (200-word maximum) about future implications of the subject. The completed Case Study should not exceed 15 pages and should be received at Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters by 5:00 p.m. CST on February 28, 2003.
