The 2002-03 Kentucky Regional Officers (Shirley McKinley, Jody Isham, Patricia Arnold, Cynda Bradford and Brenda Young) devised the following guidelines for chapter officers in their region. We think you'll agree that these are universal guidelines for all Phi Theta Kappa officers! 1. Establish a good relationship with your chapter advisor and remember they maintain continuity for the chapter and are an important liaison between the college and Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters. 2. Be organized. 3. Define role and responsibilities for each officer. Remember teamwork is important! 4. Be sure to follow the chain of command at your college. Your chapter advisor should first approve all projects and programs. The advisor is responsible for determining if further approval is needed from the college administration. 5. Obtain current membership list so that you can communicate with all members. 6. Establish appropriate methods for communicating with the chapter members, advisors and fellow officers. 7. Set calendar of events and realistic goals for the chapter. 8. Stay abreast of regional and international events and deadlines. 9. Share responsibilities and involve as many chapter members as possible in any and all chapter projects. 10. Have fun!
