Important Scholarship Dates, Information & Websites

Scholarships Available to Undergraduate Students:

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Available Scholarships: Up to 60

  • Amounts: Varying, covers tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for the remainder of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholar’s undergraduate degree, not exceeding $30,000 annually.

  • Application Information: Students must be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Faculty Representative at his/her institution.

  • Application Deadline: The Foundation will begin accepting applications on December 1, 2002; the receipt deadline is February 1, 2003.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation Scholarships

  • Available Scholarships: 75-80

  • Amount: $30,000

  • Application Information: Candidates must be nominated by their institution’s Truman Faculty Representatives. Candidates are selected in their junior years. Truman Scholarships are awarded to students preparing for careers in government, the non-profit sector or elsewhere in public service.

  • Application Deadline: January 27, 2003

The Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholarships

  • Available Scholarships: Approximately 80; 30 honorable mention awards

  • Amount: Up to $5,000 for Scholarships; $350 for honorable mentions

  • Application Information: Scholarships are available to two groups of students: juniors and seniors in fields related to the environment; and to Native American and Alaska Natives who are college sophomores or juniors in fields related to health care or tribal policy. Two-year and four-year institutions are eligible to nominate a total of six students from either or both categories. Students must be nominated by their college’s Udall faculty representative; direct applications are not accepted.

  • Application Deadline: March 3, 2003

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

  • Available Scholarships: Up to 400

  • Amounts: $1,000

  • Application Information: Nominees may be first and/or second year students planning to continue their education at a two-year institution. Nomination materials are sent to the Financial Aid Offices at all two-year, degree-granting institutions in the United States in February. Each college campus may nominate two students for this scholarship program.

Scholarships Available to Graduate Students:

Rhodes Scholarships

  • Available Scholarships: 32

  • Amounts: Covers all educational costs for two years’ study at Oxford University in England, includes maintenance allowance and funds for travel to and from Oxford.

  • Application Information: Application forms are posted on the Rhodes website in July and may be obtained from campus Rhodes Scholar representatives in August.

  • Application Deadline: Each October

Woodrow Wilson Fellowships

  • Available Scholarships: 85 (Andrew W. Mellon Fellowships)

  • Amounts: Covers full graduate tuition and required fees for the first year of graduate study and includes a stipend of $17,500.

  • Application Information: At the time of application, students must be college seniors or college graduates applying for graduate school admission. Requests for applications must be placed through www.woodrow.org/mellon/.

  • Application Deadline: GRE Test Deadline: December 1, 2002.

  • Application Request Deadline: December 4, 2002.

  • Completed Application RECEIPT Deadline: December 18, 2002.
