Advisors Encouraged to Report New Members Anytime

Phi Theta Kappa members are now receiving the most extensive array of membership benefits in our 83-year history, many of them a part of the Society’s new online Member Network at getconnected.ptk.org. We need each chapter advisor’s assistance in ensuring that members have access to these benefits — including scholarships, corporate discounts, and letters of recommendation — as soon as possible.

In order to access the Member Network, new inductees must provide their membership ID number, found on their membership card, or their social security number. Of course, new inductees cannot be assigned an identification number or have access to The Network until they are reported to Headquarters by the chapter advisor.

Consider the following scenario. A chapter plans an induction ceremony for early December, but issues invitations to eligible students in September. If students complete a membership application form and pay their fees immediately, but are not reported to Headquarters until November or December, there is a significant delay between the time they pay their fees and the time they actually receive membership benefits. In fact, one of the most common concerns of new inductees expressed to Headquarters is the delay in receiving their membership materials after they remit their membership application and fees to the chapter advisor.

Because eMembers makes the reporting process significantly easier and requires no paperwork, chapter advisors are encouraged to report new inductee information weekly or monthly, allowing new inductees to receive their valuable member benefits and access to the Member Network much faster. Advisors may report new members anytime because Headquarters does not require a minimum number of inductees in order to process an eMembers report!

To access eMembers, visit the Advisor Corner at www.ptk.org. And watch for an exciting new eMembers upgrade later this fall, greatly expanding the available online options for recruiting and reporting new members.

For more information on submitting new inductee information via eMembers, visit the website or contact the Membership Services Department at 800.946.9997.
