2000-2001 International President Heidi White from Burlington County College in Pemberton, New Jersey, recently received the University of Pennsylvania’s Leadership Scholarship, becoming the first transfer student to receive the honor originally reserved for incoming University freshmen. White’s scholarship awards will total over $50,000. “It was one of life’s defining moments when I was told I would be receiving the scholarship, and that future community college students would now be eligible,” said White. “I realized not only did my own dream come true, but that someone else’s dream in the future would also come to fruition.” The University of Pennsylvania is a national leader in higher education, consistently ranking among the nation’s top 10 universities in U.S. News & World Report. Admissions for the University are among the most selective in the country, with about 15 percent of applicants matriculating each year.
