Say Cheese

Frequently Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters requests photographs from its chapters to illustrate stories in a variety of publications. To ensure that your pictures are up to publishing specifications, follow these golden rules.

  • Digital Picture Format - TIFF at 300 DPI or a high resolution JPEG, i.e. 72 DPI sized at 22” x 16” or larger, is acceptable.

  • Web Images - Resolution of 72 DPI (at a regular 5”x 7” size) is too low for printed publication.

  • Photos saved in Word documents cannot be used.

  • Head Shot - Professional, studio photographs are preferred. Photos of subjects dressed in business attire placed in front of neutral backgrounds are best.

  • Amateur Head Shots - Avoid complicated backgrounds, i.e.- brick walls, wallpaper.

  • Sending Photo File - Use an identifiable name, i.e. smith_james_All_USA_2002.jpeg, rather than general names such as ptkphoto.tiff to avoid errors or confusion.

  • Identification -When submitting photos, include in the email the names and titles of all pictured.
