eMembers Improvements Make Membership Reporting a Breeze

The new version of eMembers is receiving acclaim from advisors around the country, especially the new file import feature - which can eliminate all typing from the process of reporting new members.

“With eMembers, advisors can get all the information they need from their registrar, electronically load the information into eMembers and they’re done. No typing! No data entry,” noted Membership Services Coordinator Julie Luckey.

This ability to quickly load student information into eMembers is hitting a homerun with advisors like Robert Carey of Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. “I have been waiting for this since eMembers was introduced,” said Carey. “Thanks for working on this new version so that the job of new member reporting is a lot easier.”

eMembers was first introduced in the fall of 2000 to make electronic membership reporting possible for Phi Theta Kappa advisors. “The previous advisor told me that (the old method) was a really difficult process,” said Elizabeth Miller of Lees College Campus of Hazard Community College in Jackson, Kentucky. “However, when we downloaded and installed eMembers, she could not believe how easy it now was!”

Once information is loaded into eMembers, the data can be used with your favorite word processing program. “Within minutes you can create personalized letters of invitation, create mailing labels or telephone trees, or verify the accuracy of names before submitting new inductees to Headquarters,” explained Director of Membership Services West Williamson. “Even better, eMembers allows you to classify records within the software, so you may select only students who have not yet responded to your invitation, or who have expressed interest in membership but not yet remitted membership fees. In fact, with the new version of eMembers the possibilities are endless.”

Martha Banks, advisor at Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville, says the new import feature saved her “hours and hours of work.”

eMembers gives advisors the freedom to work with the new member list at their leisure. Once student information has been entered or imported it may be accessed day or night from any computer that has access to the Internet.

“I loved the import feature; it makes it so easy to work from home,” said John Ortiz of Gloucester County College in Sewell, New Jersey. “I was initially afraid to try it, but I love this program more and more.”

“Some advisors were a little hesitant to use eMembers, but we’ve had extremely positive feedback once they try the software,” said Lea Ann Bethany, User Support and Training Specialist. “We’re always trying to automate tasks for advisors and make their jobs easier. We now have a program that achieves this goal, designed solely from feedback and input from advisors.”

eMembers receives a big thumbs up from advisors everywhere! Give it a try. Download the latest version at www.ptk.org/apps/emembers.jsp. For further information on eMembers, email eMembers.help@ptk.org.
