Scholarship Applications Available this Fall

Two of Phi Theta Kappa’s
largest scholarship programs will again be accepting applications this
fall. The deadline for both of these scholarships is December 6, 2002.
Although these programs share the same deadline and similar applications,
their eligibility requirements differ.
All-USA
Academic Team
Eligibility Requirements
- Expect to receive an associate’s degree between December 1, 2002,
and August 31, 2003
- Minimum 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
Application Procedures
- All applications must be received by December 6, 2002.
- Must be nominated by the All-USA contact on your college campus (generally
the college president). Only two nominations per campus.
- Applications may be obtained through
the All-USA contact at your school. Applications will be made available
by October 1.
Recognition
- Sixty
students are selected to comprise three teams of 20 members each. The
top 20 students comprising the First Team will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
All three teams will be featured in a full-page article in USA TODAY on
April 7, 2003. First Team members will be recognized at the annual Presidents
Breakfast during the American Association of Community Colleges Convention
in Dallas, Texas, April 5-7.
Guistwhite Scholarships
Eligibility Requirements
- Expect to receive an associate’s degree between December 1, 2002,
and August 31, 2003
- Minimum 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
- Must enroll
in a senior institution in fall 2003
Application Procedures
- All applications must be received by December 6, 2002.
- Applications will be available October 1, and may be obtained in three
ways. You can 1) download an application from the Phi Theta Kappa website,
www.ptk.org, 2) utilize Fax-on-Demand
by calling 601.984.3548 and requesting document number 9001, or 3) have
an application mailed to you by calling 601.984.3504, ext. 566.
Recognition
- Ten
students will be selected as Guistwhite Scholars and will receive $5,000
each, and 10 students will be selected as Guistwhite Finalists and receive
$1,000 each. All winners will be recognized on stage during Phi Theta
Kappa’s International Convention in Anaheim, California, April 3-5, 2003.
