Pre-Convention Education Opportunities for Advisors and Officers!

2000 Officer Academies
Wednesday, April 19, 2000
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Precedes the 82nd International Convention, Orlando, Florida, April 20-22, 2000!

The 2000 Officer Academies offer the premier training opportunity to newly elected Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and Regional Officers. For the Chapter Officer Academy, officers who will be serving during the 2000-01 academic year may register for the "Beginning in Phi Theta Kappa" or "Developing in Phi Theta Kappa" track depending on their individual degree of Society experience.

Chapter Officer Academy Topics Include:

  • Developing an Effective Officer Team
  • Gaining Recognition and Administrative Support
  • Implementing the Honors Study Topic
  • Making the Regional Connection
  • Succeeding in the Hallmark Awards Program
  • Developing your Chapter's Five-Star Potential
  • Building a Chapter Communications Network

Regional Officer Academy Topics Include:

  • Regional Officer Responsibilities and Privileges
  • Implementing Regional Projects
  • Team Building
  • Setting Regional Goals
  • Polishing Public Speaking Skills
  • Networking/Communicating with the Region
  • Providing Support to Chapters within the Region

No limit on the number of chapter officers per chapter or regional officers per region who may attend! However, space is limited, so register early! Reserve your space today with a $60 non-refundable registration fee. Chapter Officers use the Convention Registration Form to register. Regional Officers contact Regional Coordinator for registration information.

2000 Advisor Pre-Conference
Wednesday, April 19, 2000

Two Tracks Available:

Track One: "Beginning in Phi Theta Kappa"

Designed for advisors with less than two years of experience who did not attend last year's Advisor Pre-Conference.

  • Structuring an Effective Officer Team
  • Participating in the Five-Star Chapter Development Program
  • Determining Membership Eligibility
  • Conducting an Orientation and Induction Ceremony
  • Reporting New Members to Headquarters

Track Two: "Developing in Phi Theta Kappa"

Designed for advisors with two to four years of experience, including those who may have attended last year's Advisor Pre-Conference.

  • Professional Development and Recognition Opportunities
  • Scholarship Opportunities for Advisors
  • Participating in the Five-Star Chapter Development Program
  • Succeeding in the Hallmark Awards Program
  • Exploring Chapter Fundraising Ideas
  • Gaining Recognition and Support on Campus
  • Avoiding Advisor Burnout
