The clock is ticking on the 1999 Journey Challenge! To be included in a chapter's Journey Challenge totals, new members must be inducted by December 31, 1999, and reported to International Headquarters by January 31, 2000! The Journey Challenge was originally issued by the 1998-99 International Officers, who called on chapters to review and enhance their new member recruitment and orientation procedures to ensure that all eligible students had a full understanding of the benefits of membership in Phi Theta Kappa. As a measure of success, chapters that accepted the Journey Challenge pledged to increase their 1999 induction numbers by 20 percent over their 1998 totals. To date, more than 200 chapters have met their induction goals and will receive the coveted Journey Challenge trophies at Thursday nights opening celebration at the 2000 International Convention. And every chapter that inducts even one more member in 1999 than in 1998 will receive a Journey Challenge Certificate in the mail prior to Convention! A total of 715 chapters accepted the Journey Challenge, and 78 met their goals by April 1, 1999, allowing them to receive their awards at the International Convention in Anaheim. Many chapters have their goals in sight and are expecting to meet the Challenge very soon. To learn more about strategies employed by chapters to meet their Journey Challenge goals, visit the Journey Challenge section of the Phi Theta Kappa web site and read their "success stories." To monitor your chapter's progress toward its goal, visit the Journey Challenge status. Remember ... the clock is ticking!
