Phi Theta Kappa’s Regional Leaders Attend the 2008 International Leadership Conference

Phi Theta Kappa regional leaders convened June 14-16 at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California, for the sixth annual International Leadership Conference (ILC) for Regional Officers and Coordinators. This year's event was the second ILC held preceding the International Honors Institute, which took place June 16-21. A total of 95 participants from 26 regions and all four divisions of the Society were represented. Headquarters Staff and the 2008-09 International Officers presented on issues critical to regional leaders, including the Crucial Role of Regional Officers, Motivating Members, a review of Phi Theta Kappa's history, communication strategies, membership acceptance resources, Honors in Action, Hallmark Awards success, the Five Star Chapter Development Program and the Hites Scholarship Challenge. Regional Officers also participated in Leadership Development Exercises from the Leadership Development Studies textbook. Regional Coordinators met together to discuss updates from Headquarters as well as give feedback to each other and Headquarters Staff on regional issues and upcoming initiatives.
