Rudy Giuliani to Deliver 2005 Convention Keynote Address
Rudy
Giuliani, one of the most recognized and influential leaders in the United
States, will be a featured speaker at Phi Theta Kappa's 2005 International
Convention, scheduled April 14-16 in Dallas, Texas. Rudy Giuliani, mayor
of New York City during 9/11 and Time magazine's 2001 Person of the
Year, will deliver the Convention Keynote Address focusing on leadership,
courage in the face of adversity and the importance of an engaged U.S. citizenry.
He will also share anecdotes of his experiences as a recent survivor of prostate
cancer. Following his speech Giuliani will respond to questions from a
panel of Society alumni on a variety of current social, political and cultural
issues of national and global significance. Giuliani will also attend
a special luncheon for all college presidents attending the Convention
prior to his speech on Friday afternoon, April 15. Check the Convention

LaBelle to Inspire Convention Audience in Fight Against Cancer
Grammy
winner and pop and soul singer Patti LaBelle, who has lost several family
members to cancer, will join Phi Theta Kappa in the fight to conquer the disease
when she speaks at the 2005 International Convention. LaBelle, whose vast
musical career has spanned four decades, has been an active advocate for
cancer research, and serves as a spokesperson for the National Cancer Institute.
A special research laboratory at the University of Miami has been dedicated
in LaBelle's honor in recognition of her work in the fight against cancer.
Phi Theta Kappa's 2005 Convention will be held April 14-16 at the Gaylord
Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. Following her address
on the morning of April 15, LaBelle will answer questions related to the
International Service Program, Conquering Cancer: Continuing the
Fight, and the Society's Honors Study Topic, Popular Culture:
Shaping and Reflecting Who We Are. Check the Convention
