New Century Scholars


Meet the 2009 New Century Scholars.
The New Century Scholars program honors the top scorer from each of the 50 states in the Coca-Cola All-State Academic Team program. This year, the program has been expanded to include 2 new awards with one scholar selected from among the two-year colleges in Alberta, Canada and one scholar selected from among the two-year colleges located in the seven sovereign nations and U.S. territories where Phi Theta Kappa chapters exist. To be named a New Century Scholar students must be nominated by their college president and submit a completed All-USA/All-State Community College Academic Team Nomination form.
2009 New Century Scholar Program
- 52 total awards (2 new this year)
- $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring Coca Cola All-State Community College Academic Team nominee in each of the 50 states in the U.S.
- New $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring nominee from a two year college in Alberta, Canada
- New $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring nominee from a two year college with a Phi Theta Kappa chapter outside of Canada and the United States
- Winners will receive recognition and stipends at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention April 4-6, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona
- Winners are featured in AACC's Community College Times and Community College Journal and on Phi Theta Kappa's website
