Scholarships Administered by Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa administers scholarships using a common application. Applicants may apply for one scholarship on the common application or multiple scholarships at the same time. The Fall Common Application opens on October 1 and closes December 2. The Spring Common Application opens on February 13 and closes on May 15. Commit to Complete

Phi Theta Kappa's new Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship will help Phi Theta Kappa members overcome unanticipated financial barriers preventing the completion of a student’s first college credential, an associate degree or certificate, while enrolled in the two-year college.

Fall Scholarships Spring Scholarships

All scholarships administered on the Fall Common Application are for use by students who are almost finished with their associate degree coursework and intend to enter the work force or intend to transfer to an accredited four-year college to complete a baccalaureate degree for the following upcoming academic year. When you begin an online application, you will first be required to take and pass an eligibility quiz which will help you determine your eligibility for the following scholarships.

All scholarships administered on the Spring Common Application are for use by students who are relatively new community college students and plan to attend the community college for associate degree coursework for the upcoming academic year. When you begin an online application, you will first be required to take and pass an eligibility quiz which will help you determine your eligibility for the following scholarships.

  • Up to 10 scholarships of $7,500 each
  • Total awards of $75,000
  • Recognizes outstanding academic achievement of Phi Theta Kappa members
  • Recipients must transfer to a regionally accredited baccalaureate degree-granting senior institution

The Hispanic Scholarship FundThe Hispanic Scholarship Fund
  • Award amounts vary
  • Must be enrolled at a community college and intend to transfer
  • Must enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college to pursue a baccalaureate degree for the upcoming academic year
  • Must meet other eligibility requirements such as minimum GPA, citizenship status requirements, etc.
  • Application due in December

The Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships
  • Maximum $30,000 available per student, per year
  • Provides funding for tuition, room and board, books and other required fees
  • Of the 60 scholars named in 2012, 50 were Phi Theta Kappa members
  • Must be nominated by the community college
  • Application process opens in September and is due at the beginning of December

  • Eight scholarships of $1,000 each awarded specifically to Phi Theta Kappa members

Pearson Prize for Higher EducationPearson Prize for Higher Education
  • Awards 20 scholarships of $10,000
  • Recognizes college students for high academic achievement and engagement in community service
  • Open to full-time, degree-seeking students attending a career college, two-year or four-year college or university. To be eligible, students must have completed a minimum of 30 credits, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, have no relation to a Pearson employee, have not received the Pearson Prize grant or fellowship before and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
