Security on Phi Theta Kappa Website
Phi Theta Kappa is concerned with the security and safety of our members and the data transmitted during transactions.
During any transaction with Phi Theta Kappa that requires the transmission of personal or sensitive data, a secure link is set up between your browser and Phi Theta Kappa. Data security between your browser and Phi Theta Kappa is protected by a security protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity for the connection.
You will not see the security icon as you browse Recognitions Online, or view scholarship information on Get Connected. However, once you begin a transaction that requires the exchange of credit card information, member id, or other sensitive, personal information, your internet session will be encrypted because your security-enabled browser will be connected to Phi Theta Kappa's web site using the Secure Hypertext Transport Protocol. You will see a security icon appear in your browser. You will also see the "https://" secure protocol prefix in the URL string. URL strings beginning with "https://" instead of the usual "http://" indicate that the secure protocol is in effect.
After signing into member-only sections of the Phi Theta Kappa site such as Recognitions Online or Get Connected your browser may notify you that you are leaving a secured site. That's okay. Your session was secured for the exchange of information during sign-in and will be again should you decide to place an order, request a letter of recommendation, or exchange personal data using a Phi Theta Kappa form.
