ptk.org Web Addresses for Regional Websites
Regions now have the opportunity to have a ".ptk.org" web address that redirects visitors to their "real" web address. For example, the New York Region website is located at http://www.nyptk.fmcc.edu/, and now it also can be reached at http://newyorkregion.ptk.org.
How does this work? When visitors go to http://newyorkregion.ptk.org, their browser silently directs them to http://www.nyptk.fmcc.edu/.
If your region takes advantage of this feature, you can be assured that your regional "ptk.org" website address will never change and will forward to the correct address no matter how many times you need to change the location of your site. However, to ensure that your address correctly forwards, you must remember to update your forwarding address with us.
What will the name of your "ptk.org" site be? Regions who sign up for this new feature will be given names based on their official region name followed by ".ptk.org". For example, the Minn-Wi-Kota Region's address would be minnwikotaregion.ptk.org, and the Alabama Region's address would be alabamaregion.ptk.org.
Why sign your region up for a "ptk.org" site? All your site visitors will need to know is the name of their region to find your site or any other regional site. You'll also have the prestige of the official "ptk.org" site domain affiliated with your site.
