Preparing Tomorrow's Science and Math Teachers

Summer 2003
Issue

Portland Community College, Portland OR

...team members developed an Advising Guide for Future Teachers. Based upon a format developed by our mentors, Steve Kinholt and Bruce Palmquist, it was well received by attendees at our first annual Future Teachers Conference. It was also distributed to counselors, advisors, and mathematics and science faculty from colleges and universities throughout Oregon. In February, Carol Handy and Ilga Ross distributed the guide at the meeting of OCEPT (Oregon Collaborative for Excellence in the Preparation of Teachers). They were pleasantly surprised when the poster garnered one of the $100 prizes! The advising guide is located on the Internet at http://spot.pcc.edu/~iross/Advising Guide--HTML.htm.
