Preparing Tomorrow's Science and Mathematics Teachers - Three-Year Grant Provides Resources to Continue Preparation at Nation's Two-Year Colleges
2006 Best Practices in Teacher Preparation Conference: Focus on Students Application Form
There has been a strong push by leading education leaders from Washington, DC, and throughout the country to increase the training and preparation of science and mathematics teachers in America's schools. Phi Theta Kappa has received a $568,250 continuation grant from the National Science Foundation's Advanced Technology Education Division to expand the role of community colleges in addressing this call for action.
Phi Theta Kappa, in cooperation with the American Association of Community Colleges, will conduct a three-year nationwide mentoring project entitled, Preparing Tomorrow's Science and Mathematics Teachers at Community Colleges. The overarching goal is to expand and enhance community college teacher preparation programs for future K-12 science and mathematics teachers, preparing them for the future and providing them with a clear understanding of the needs of today's technological workplace.
Eighteen two-year colleges have been competitively selected to participate in Phi Theta Kappa's Preparing Tomorrow's Science and Mathematics Teachers at Community Colleges: Round II. Find out more about the program:
