The Alpha Project
is only the second long range planning initiative conducted by Phi Theta
Kappa in its more than eighty years of existence. The first planning initiative,
Phi Theta Kappa 2001, was conducted in 1990 and set the priorities of
Phi Theta Kappa during the current decade. The impact of the initial long
range planning initiative has been enormous. Most of the programs and
member benefits offered today emanated from the first long range planning
initiative. Thus, the impact of the long range planning initiative will
be significant in determining the Society's priorities, programs, benefits,
and services in the next decade.
Review of Progress
made in the 1990's
To prepare to engage
in the long range planning initiative it is important to review Phi Theta
Kappa's mission as presented in the "Purpose Statement" of the Society's
Constitution and to review the progress made since the first long range
planning initiative conducted in 1990.
Phi Theta Kappa's
Mission Statement
