Phi Theta Kappa Honors Teacher Education Programs at Community Colleges

Phi Theta Kappa will recognize five exemplary community college teacher education programs at the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP) Conference, to be held March 2, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana. These five exemplary community college teacher education programs will be competitively selected based on how well their programs exemplify the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and professional development.

Restrictions: Community Colleges that were recognized for their exemplary teacher education programs at the 2006 NACCTEP Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia, are not eligible to apply for the 2007 award.

Benefits of Award:
  • Five competitively selected community colleges will receive travel expenses and lodging for a three-person team (president, faculty member, student) to attend the 2007 NACCTEP Conference, March 2-4, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Five competitively selected community colleges will receive national recognition for their exemplary community college teacher education programs. This recognition will consist of an award, to be presented at the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 NACCTEP Conference, national recognition in Press Releases developed by Phi Theta Kappa, national recognition in a Monograph highlighting their programs which will be sent to presidents of all U.S. community colleges, and multiple opportunities to showcase their programs at the 2007 NACCTEP Conference.

Application Deadline: Friday, December 1, 2006. Mail the original plus 5 copies of the Cover Sheet and Proposal to Wendy Taylor, Executive Assistant, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, 1625 Eastover Drive, Jackson, MS 39211.

Selection Process: A five-member Selection Committee representing the teacher education community will review all applications and make award recommendations.

Selection Notification: All colleges to be honored at the Opening Ceremony of the 2007 NACCTEP Conference will be notified of their award by Friday, December 15, 2006.
