25 May Tincher-Ladner Appointed to Get2College Advisory Council Tweet May 25, 2017 Press Room Mississippi, College Completion 0 Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner has been appointed to serve on the Get2College Advisory Council. Get2College is a Mississippi-based, non-profit organization funded by the Woodward Hines Education Foundation (formerly the Education Services Foundation). The Advisory Council provides input for strategic planning, and council members serve two-year terms. The mission of Get2College is to provide college planning services to Mississippi families and educators to help Mississippi students get to college and be successful there. Get2College provides individual financial and college admissions counseling to more than 4,000 students and parents each year. The organization also reaches more than 35,000 students and parents annually through community-based outreach aimed at providing workshops in Mississippi’s high schools. “Get2College is fulfilling a vital need as they provide Mississippi students and parents with best-in-class college planning services,” Tincher-Ladner said. “I am looking forward to serving as a part of the Get2College Advisory Board, and to being a part of making a difference in the lives of Mississippi students and families.” In 2016 Phi Theta Kappa received a $50,000 grant from the Education Services Foundation to fund membership scholarships for 750 Mississippi community college students with financial need. Phi Theta Kappa staff members have volunteered to help Mississippi students and parents complete the FAFSA. “Get2College and Phi Theta Kappa are two sides of the same coin, with both organizations working to improve the lives of students,” Tincher-Ladner said. Prior to joining the Phi Theta Kappa staff, Tincher-Ladner served over two decades in higher education, primarily working in instruction and information technology. She also served as Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Tincher-Ladner holds a Ph.D. in Education Leadership from Mississippi State University and both an M.A. and B.A. in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi. She also serves on the National Advisory Council for the America’s College Promise Campaign and on the National Advisory Board for the Center for Community College Student Engagement (CCCSE).
