Esparza Named Associate Vice President of Regional Development

Debbra Esparza has been named Phi Theta Kappa’s Associate Vice President of Regional Development, effective October 2, 2017.

In this new role, Esparza will provide training and support for regional leaders, events, and programming. Phi Theta Kappa’s chapters are grouped into single- or multi-state regions, with some chapter advisors leading the regions as Regional and Associate Regional Coordinators. Members are elected to serve as Regional Officers.

“We are proud to have Debbie join our team,” said Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. “She brings a wealth of experience as a member, advisor, and Regional Coordinator that will help us better serve the members and advisors in our regions, who are at the heart of what we do.”

Esparza was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Lone Star College-Kingwood. As a member, she was named a Distinguished Chapter President and a Distinguished Regional Officer, and she received the Texas Hall of Honor Award. She received a Phi Theta Kappa Guistwhite Scholarship for her outstanding academic achievement and leadership accomplishments and was named to the All-USA and All-Texas Community College Academic Teams.

Esparza earned an associate degree in design and visual communications from Lone Star College-Kingwood, a bachelor’s degree in technology supervision from the University of Houston, and a master’s degree in leadership development from Walden University. She has worked in the Lone Star College system since 2002, most recently serving as Executive Director of Organizational Development.

Esparza has served as a Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor since 2007 and as Texas Regional Coordinator since 2011. She received the Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Regional Coordinator award in 2016, and the Texas Region has repeatedly been named a Continued Excellence Region under her leadership.

"I am honored and excited to be joining the staff of Phi Theta Kappa,” Esparza said. “I cannot imagine a more perfect opportunity than to work for the Society that has had such an incredible impact on my life.”
