Pin Design Competition:

Submit a creative design reflecting the Centennial Celebration at PTK Catalyst 2018, and your design could be chosen as the official convention t-shirt or pin.

Open only to active Phi Theta Kappa members.

Pin Design Prizes:
First Place: $500, recognition pin and a complimentary PTK Catalyst 2018 Pin
Second Place: $250 and recognition pin
Third Place: $100 and recognition pin

Proposed Dates & Deadlines:
Submission Deadline: December 1
Judging: December 4-8
Winners announced: December 11

Designs will be judged by a panel of Phi Theta Kappa staff and design industry professionals on the following criteria:

  • Overall design
  • Creative use of theme
  • General appeal

Official Rules:

  • By submitting an entry, the artist agrees to all Official Rules outlined herein.
  • All entries should be submitted with two versions of the art on a single page. The larger version is for judging the T-shirt contest. The smaller version is for judging the pin contest. The larger version should be approximately 7 inches wide by 7 inches tall. The smaller version should be approximately 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall. Both versions should be identical. The art does not have to be square, nor to these exact dimensions.
  • Each individual may submit only one design entry. Additional submissions by the same individual will be removed from competition.
  • Each winner can only win one prize for either the t-shirt or pin design.
  • Design must be the original work of the entrant.
  • All designs must be rendered in color (full process color or two spot colors)
  • Design should be created in a vector illustration program like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Corel Draw or Inkscape.
  • Design should be submitted as a PDF and include your name, college, chapter, email address and phone number.
  • Design should integrate elements that represent the Centennial Celebration of Phi Theta Kappa at Catalyst 2018.
  • The Catalyst 2018 brand guidelines and logos are provided as inspiration or to pull a specific element into the design.
  • Design should be created for a short sleeve t-shirt.
  • The first place t-shirt and pin designs will serve as the inspiration for the official designs, and may be modified slightly to conform to production standards and Phi Theta Kappa branding guidelines.
  • The student must keep a copy of his or her original design until results are announced. Upon notification, the winner will be required to submit his or her artwork in the native software file to Phi Theta Kappa headquarters by e-mail or other means, for production purposes. Phi Theta Kappa will not return any materials.
  • Phi Theta Kappa is committed to the elimination of unlawful discrimination in connection with all employment relationships, business operations and programs. Discrimination based on gender, family or marital status, race, color, national origin, military or veteran status, economic status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, genetic information or history, age, disability, political affiliation and cultural and religious backgrounds is prohibited.
  • Submissions should not contain any foul or inappropriate language.
  • Submissions should not contain sexual suggestions or innuendos.
  • Submissions should not reference alcohol, tobacco, drugs or firearms.
  • Once submitted, all design entries become the property and possession of Phi Theta Kappa, which Phi Theta Kappa retains exclusive rights to the reproduction of the design and the submitting artist relinquishes all rights to such design.
  • Phi Theta Kappa shall have the right to edit, composite, scan, duplicate or alter the entry design for any purpose which it deems necessary or desirable, without the need for any further compensation, and/or permission.
  • Phi Theta Kappa and related affiliates reserve the right to determine appropriateness and may refuse an entry for any reason.
  • No purchase necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not improve your chances of winning.
