REPORTS TO: Chief Experience Officer


WORK LOCATION: PTK Headquarters, Jackson, MS

To oversee and lead the marketing and advertising efforts for Phi Theta Kappa, develop an overall marketing plan, manage campaigns and analyze and report on ROI.

  • Create and execute multichannel marketing campaigns in all areas, including membership recruitment, event marketing, membership engagement initiates, and content marketing.
  • Prepares annual marketing budget, tracks and monitors paid and organic traffic, and provides regular reporting on performance metrics and ROI.
  • Manages the Marketing team, including the Graphic Designer, Marketing Project Manager, Social Media Coordinator, Marketing and Communications Analyst, and contractors and agencies as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate event planning progress in relation to marketing objectives.
  • Review current marketing trends and best practices to determine the most effective styles and strategies.
  • Provide updates and make recommendations to meet budget objectives.
  • Provides direction to external agencies and contractors and is responsible for effective management and deliverables of these relationships.
  • Evaluate, negotiate services, and provide oversight of third-party vendors.
  • Support implementation of the strategic plan.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or similar.
  • 5 to 10 years leading a marketing/communications team, preferably with experience in enrollment marketing, nonprofit marketing, or higher education environments.
  • Ability to create and execute a multichannel marketing strategy and deliver on defined growth goals across the organization.
  • Able to work in a dynamic and professional environment while maintaining high standards of work product and a good sense of humor.
  • Must understand and display a commitment to being a good steward of organizational resources.
  • Must be committed to understanding the evolving community college landscape and prioritize the organization’s mission in all decision-making and leadership duties.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, and work well in group problem solving situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Google Analytics.
  • SEO and PPC experience, certifications preferred.
  • Examine data to grasp issues, draw conclusions, and solve problems.
  • Clearly conveys and receives information and ideas.

This work environment is an office-like setting with moderate noise.

  • Physical Exertion: The incumbent may frequently be required to lift approximately 10 pounds and/or occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision: The incumbent must possess close, midrange, distance and peripheral vision; as well as the ability to identify colors, judge distances and adjust focus. 
  • Speaking/Hearing:  The incumbent must be able to give and receive information through speaking and listening. 
  • Motor Coordination:  The incumbent in this position is frequently required to:  use their hands and reach with their hands and arms.  The incumbent is occasionally required to: stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
