After an unexpected herniated disc in her spine immobilized her left leg, Alexis was faced with making big changes to her limited mobility. Alexis underwent surgery to restore movement to her left leg and reduce pain levels, but the surgery also gave her the time and motivation to enroll in college. Her exposure through her surgery process made Alexis realize medical coding would be a perfect direction for her professional life.
