Derek knew he wanted to work in the medical field, but he was not sure in what role until he received a pamphlet on certificate programs and was inspired to get his EKG certificate. He began working as a cardiac monitor tech at a hospital and fell in love with the field. With the help of the hospital, he enrolled in a degree program in echocardiography. As he completes his degree, he continues to work and build his practical experience.
