Georgianna McCarthy | Hinds Community College, Raymond Campus | Mississippi

Categories: New Century Workforce Pathway Scholars

During the pandemic, Georgianna’s mother decided to homeschool Georgianna and her twin to help limit the negative effects of screen time for her and her twin who both have ADHD. Instead, Georgianna’s mother exposed them to hands-on experiential learning, and when a storm destroyed their porch, they also learned carpentry, which Georgianna immediately fell in love with. Georgianna intends to be one of the youngest licensed female contractors in Mississippi, and she has started her own company, Georgia Bells Woodwork, which specializes in custom cabinets and interior design solutions and aims to empower women interested in construction.
