The Alpha Epsilon Nu Chapter at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Alabama, submitted the winning photo in CollegeFish.org’s FishFanatic Photo Contest, sponsored by Civitas Learning.
As part of CollegeFish.org’s NerdNation Marketplace Mania, NerdNation 2015 attendees were invited to submit photos illustrating their enthusiasm for CollegeFish.org, Phi Theta Kappa’s web-based college transfer and completion planning tool. The photo is currently being featured on CollegeFish.org’s Facebook page, and the chapter received $500. Bishop State was the first community college in Alabama to offer CollegeFish.org to all students, and the college continues to promote its services campus-wide.
“Bishop State continues to empower our students through access to outstanding support services and engagement opportunities like Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and its online completion and transfer tool, CollegeFish,” said Dr. Victoria Perry, Alpha Epsilon Nu chapter advisor and Director of Counseling and Scholarships at Bishop State. “We will be using the award to support outreach activities on campus, specifically targeting new student orientation and student success classes, as part of our Quality Enhancement Project. A sincere thank you to Civitas Learning and Phi Theta Kappa for their encouragement and investment.”
Civitas Learning, a leading innovator providing quality data science and analytic support to higher education institutions, sponsored the $500 prize.
“At Civitas Learning, we work in partnership with leading colleges and universities to improve learning outcomes using best-in-class data science and analytics to guide our efforts,” said Dr. Mark David Milliron, Chief Learning Officer and co-founder of Civitas Learning. “While a significant amount of our work is focused on interventions to help struggling students achieve academic success, we are also deeply committed to providing opportunities to inspire high-achieving students to reach their fullest potential.
“We are honored to support the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Bishop State Community College with this scholarship, and we applaud the important work Bishop State is doing throughout Mobile and across Alabama. We believe any investment in a Phi Theta Kappa student is a sound investment in the future.”
