Jackson, Mississippi – Phi Theta Kappa has partnered with GEICO to offer the Society’s first scholarship supporting the creativity of Phi Theta Kappa members. Five $1,000 awards have been presented to Phi Theta Kappa members through the GEICO Meme 4 Money Creativity Scholarship competition.
Phi Theta Kappa members were invited to enter the competition to provide the most comical, “meme-able” caption for seven photos provided on GEICO’s Meme 4 Money Creativity Scholarship application. Students had the opportunity to vote online for this year’s “People’s Choice” meme (pictured here). Final winners were selected and recognized by a panel of judges.
The winners include:
Tara Eisenhart, Montgomery County Community College, PA
Becca Obright, Fox Valley Technical College, WI
Todd Raley, Howard County Community College, MD
Maria Sanchez, Wilbur Wright College, IL
Kristen Stull, Hinds Community College, MS
“Having a keen sense of humor requires intelligence, creativity and a light-hearted attitude, all of which are helpful in both personal and professional life,” said Deedre Daniel, GEICO’s Director of Partnership, Affinity and Membership Discounts. “It takes a special person to possess those qualities and GEICO is proud to recognize those individuals through the Creativity Scholarship program.”
As a sponsor of Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, GEICO has given more than $2 million to support scholarships and programs for Phi Theta Kappa members. GEICO also provides additional scholarships to Phi Theta Kappa members for the completion of associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees, and for the professional development of chapter advisors.
