Honors Study Topic

The Honors Study Topic changes every two years so that it will always be a timely and relevant subject of importance to the human experience in a global context. The current Honors Program Guide details the 2014/2015 Honors Study Topic, Frontiers and the Spirit of Exploration. When developing the biennial topic, members of the Honors Program Council consider eight criteria. The topic must be:

  • Interdisciplinary
  • International in scope
  • Intellectual
  • Important
  • In-the-News
  • Interesting
  • Theme-Oriented
  • Action-Oriented

The Honors Study Topic affords members opportunities to consider complex, real-world issues and further research into them to build the analytic and collaborative problem-solving skills necessary and valued in advanced academic pursuits, workplaces and communities.
