Four New Scholarship Programs Announced

The scholarship offerings from Phi Theta Kappa keep getting bigger — we’ve just added FOUR new scholarship programs, including one from Walgreens for pharmacy tech students.

And, even better: applications for all of them are open now! Check out the details for all four new scholarship programs below.

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Certification Scholarship

This scholarship is for PTK members who are enrolled in Allied Health or Pharmacy Technician programs and intend to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Up to 65 scholarships of $130 each will be awarded to cover the cost of certification exam fees.

The application is open year-round, and winners will be selected twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Complete the application by May 3 to be considered for the first round of awards.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled in Allied Health or Pharmacy Technician programs through December 2019;
  • Be an active PTK member in good standing; and
  • Be eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam in the semester following the award.

Financial need, demonstration of career goals, academic rigor, and community service may be considered in the selection of scholarship recipients. Learn more and apply now.

TEK Productions Scholarship

If you’re majoring in fields leading to careers in production and/or event management, then this scholarship is for you. One $500 scholarship will be awarded this first year.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of six semester credit hours (or nine quarter credit hours);
  • Be a member of PTK in good standing;
  • Be enrolled at least part-time in an associate, certificate, or bachelor’s degree program in the semester following application; and
  • Hold temporary or permanent residency in the country of the college the student is attending or possess a visa considered appropriate by the college.

You must be majoring in production, event management, theater, performing arts, graphic design, video editing, stage management, or have a similar major. Applications must be completed by May 3 at 5 p.m. CT. Learn more and apply now.

Ronny J. Coleman Fire and Emergency Services Leader of the Future Scholarship

This scholarship honors Ronny J. Coleman, retired state fire marshal for the state of California, who is widely known as a certified fire chief and a master instructor in the California Fire Service Training and Education System. A scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded.

Students must have completed at least 50 percent of coursework in an associate degree public safety program at a regionally accredited college by June 2019. Eligible public safety programs include fire science, fire technology, emergency medical services, fire and emergency services administration, community risk reduction, fire engineering, fire prevention, or public safety education.

To be eligible, students must also:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of six semester credit hours (or nine quarter credit hours);
  • Be a PTK member;
  • Hold a minimum 3.5 GPA; and
  • Hold temporary or permanent residency in the country of the college the student is attending or possess a visa considered appropriate by the college.

Students may not be a pre-major or certificate student.

Pacific Region Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship is for students in Phi Theta Kappa’s Pacific Region: Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands. Up to two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year, and scholars will be recognized at the Pacific Regional Convention.

Eligible students:

  • Must be a Phi Theta Kappa member;
  • Must be currently enrolled at a two-year college in the Pacific Region;
  • Transfer to a senior institution in the Pacific Region in the next fall semester; and
  • Must be eligible for the Guistwhite or Hites Scholarships.
